How to Permanently Repair Wood DIY - Epoxy Putty

Tasha from Designer Trapped in a Lawyer's Body walks through the steps to complete permanent repairs on minor, medium, and major repairs in high-traffic areas.

Step 1: Identify the color closest to that of the repair - noting that it is better to go darker than light.

Step 2: Once desired color is chosen, use a sharp knife to cut off a section of the Epoxy Putty that is around the same volume as the area to be filled.

**Note: replace the aluminum tab back onto the Epoxy Putty stick to ensure that the product does not become hard**

Step 3: Knead the putty until a uniform color is achieved. The working life of the Epoxy Putty is around 6 minutes after mixing.

Step 4: Push the Epoxy into the damaged area until the damage is not exposed anymore. Wet your fingers with tap water to prevent the Epoxy from sticking.

*Note: In order to know when the Epoxy Putty has cured, keep a small amount that is left over from the repair. Once it has cured, your repair has also cured.*

It's easier to fill screw holes with toothpicks then break them off flush with the surface. This provides new wood for the screws to anchor to.
