Fake/Knockoff Mikuni VM-22 Carburetor

I bought this carburetor from eBay. It was advertised as a Mikuni VM-22 carburetor. However it turned out to be a Chinese knockoff and a fake. it has no markings on it whatsoever. When I put it on the bike it did not perform properly at all at any speed. It kept backing down when I gave it the throttle. It could not deliver the fuel mixture enough for the engine.

Most of those engines have an intake manifold which makes the chock arm clear the block

Did you get it run on bike? I have 3 different type of fake vm22 type Mikuni. 2 of them run 100% perfect and give tremenduous power to 125-140cc engine. The one that doesn't run perfect is the newest one that I wasn't able to get run on idle. The carburetor looks 1:1 like yours. It doesn't have choke flap on the rear hole like the two other carbs. This one has the hole on side like yours that kinda acts like some kind of choke. The carbuetor looks fine and well build together but it propably has some issues, maybe it was clogged up jets or something. I cleaned the original You-All Mikuni knock off on my pitbike and it runs like a japanese bike. You can adjust the idle so low that it runs like old tractor only few rpm and has nice low torque. I would try the third non-working one after clean up put it is so frustrating to rebuild the assembly now when it is running. Maybe I wait next time the original carb gives in and needs some rebuild..

I hate the screw to adjust the air / fuel mixture in on the bottom of the Chinese made carb, while a GENUINE MIKUNI made in JAPAN has that screw where it's supposed to be . On the SIDE of the carburetor . This is NOT a Mikuni but people still call them a "MIKUNI" .🤯

Thanks for the info! Were your jets already clogged being brand new?

I run a Sudco Mikuni 38 VM on my Shovelhead, 83 FXWG. I see 40 Mikuni Copies. Wonder if they are any good? Thanks for the video.
