Samson Rope: Eye Splice Lock Stitching Procedure

Показать описание
Samson recommends splicing as the preferred rope termination method. Knots can significantly decrease a ropes strength while, in most cases, splicing maintains 100% of the specified rope strength. Splice terminations are used in all our ropes to determine new and unused tensile strengths.

Thank you for this detailed tutorial.

I wanted to point a couple of possible updates to the pdf version.

A. Nowhere in the pdf is the importance of stitching twine construction or diameter mentioned.

B. Step 4 (in the pdf) recommends tying a square knot, which was slightly confusing.

Would it make sense to apply tension on the fresh eye splice before lock stitching? If so, is there a suggested value (eg __% of MBS ). If not what’s the rationale?

This looks like a Dyneema/Amsteel splice. Is the twine polyester or nylon? If so, could you use strands from the taper for this?
