The Original Game of Thrones Ending Revealed | This Would Have Been Far Worse!

Welcome back for another Game of Thrones Season 8 video. In this video, I will be talking about Game of Thrones writers and showrunners, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss new interview with Variety. The new article states, “Game of Thrones” author George R.R. Martin first mentioned back in 2020 that there was once a plan to end the HBO series with a film trilogy designed for movie theaters instead of just another normal season of television. In a new WSJ Magazine profile, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss confirmed this was actually their original plan for ending the HBO mega-hit. They wanted three movies instead of spreading the final 13 episodes across two seasons. This might be one of the dumbest ideas they've ever had. In my opinion, this would have made Game of Thrones' ending worse.

These guys proved they are not intelligent enough to write anything remotely good once they ran out of prewritten plots.

Imagine trying to leave game of thrones the best tv show they would ever work on so they can go make other movies no one will ever watch

I cannot believe they had the balls to even admit to this horrendous idea.

HBO is to blame for this as well. They should have pushed for D&D to leave the show and hand over the torch to someone else.

The Night King Attack SHOULD OF been at least a full season

I wanted to see the Kings Landing get invaded by the white walkers while Cersi was still there. After she rejected daenerys / Jon's plead for help. That would've been so satisfying.

At the end of the day, I get that D&D wanted to leave to do other creative projects - it is not unheard of for showrunners to leave tv shows and new showrunners to step in. And that is what should of happened! My understanding is HBO would've been happy to let someone else take over, but D&D didn't want that to happen, and that's absolute bullshit. They wanted all the glory without putting all the work in, and they rushed out those last two seasons like a bad trip to the toilet.

It indirectly tells you LOUDLY how little telephone and television execs think of their "Consumers".

They quickly went from being the most praised Directors to being the biggest jokes in Hollywood.

D&D should have handed off the show to someone else that could have done it right. HBO & George should have demanded it.

For me, it's always been how quickly the white walkers ended, all the build up for such a rushed ending.

What in the hell were D&D thinking? I need like a 10-part documentary explain to me how in the hell such an exceptional show could turn into what it did. Maybe in 10 or 15 years we'll get the real inside scoop on what the heck was really going on behind the scenes.

They "kinda forgot" the definition of the word "ending."

Prewatch: Well, it can’t be worse.

Postwatch: WTF

After second season ended I used to rewatch all game of thrones seasons every year before the new season started. I also reread the books a couple of times. I loved this series so much. But after season 8 I haven't watched a single episode of GoT. It got totally ruined for me and it makes me so sad to think what could have happened. Probably still need a few years before rewatching the first four seasons.

I can't believe anyone wants to hear anything Dan and Dave have to say about anything after what they produced the last few seasons of GOT. I'm surprised they even have a job. Movies would have obviously been worse than what we got, but there is no going below zero, so it probably wouldn't have made any difference.

The fact these two are even allowed to continue making movies/shows is a disgrace, they should've been tried for treason (with Joffrey deciding their fate) for how they butchered the cultural phenomenon that thrones was. I mean just imagine how absolutely amazing the series could've been from start to finish if they were even half as passionate about the show as the fans were. I'm not even that mad with how the story played out, just how they rushed it so much the plot points didn't feel fulfilling.

What D&D did the last season of GOT was horrible, but if they had done anything like what you talked about it would have been catastrophic.

Put the blame where it belongs. Martin had seven years to finish the final book but he was too busy playing celebrity. He STILL hasn't finished it in fact. The show ran out of source material for the finish!
