Viral Baked Feta Pasta! My New Favorite Pasta Dish! Absolutely insane

Ingredients:

8 oz (225 grams) block of feta cheese
2 cups of cherry or grape tomatoes
4 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped (reserve some for garnish)
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
10 oz (280 grams) pasta of choice (e.g., penne, rigatoni, spaghetti)
Zest and juice from 1/2 a lemon
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
1/2 cup of reserved pasta water

Instructions:

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Tomato & Feta Preparation: In a baking dish, place the block of feta cheese in the center and surround it with the cherry tomatoes. Drizzle olive oil over the tomatoes and feta. Sprinkle minced garlic, red pepper flakes, black pepper, and sea salt over everything.

Bake: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the tomatoes are bursting and the feta has a golden hue.

Cook Pasta: While the feta and tomatoes are baking, cook your pasta according to the package instructions. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water before draining.

Mix and Mash: Once the feta and tomatoes have baked, remove from the oven. Mash the feta and tomatoes with a fork or spatula, mixing until they form a creamy sauce.

Combine: Add the cooked pasta to the baking dish, along with the fresh basil, lemon zest, lemon juice, and the reserved pasta water. Mix everything thoroughly, ensuring the pasta is well-coated in the feta-tomato sauce.

Serve: Transfer to serving plates, sprinkle with additional fresh basil and optional grated Parmesan cheese. Serve immediately.

Optional Variations:

Add sautéed spinach, olives, or cooked chicken pieces for a more varied dish.
Replace cherry tomatoes with sun-dried tomatoes for a deeper flavor.
For an extra kick, incorporate diced chili peppers or a splash of balsamic vinegar before baking.

Love your videos!!!! :) :) :) Hot tip: Lemon zest is the very outer layer of a lemon’s peel. When you zest a lemon, you’re essentially removing that citrus peel or lemon skin. It’s important to avoid the white, spongy pith beneath the top layer, as it is unpleasantly bitter. So the goal is to remove only the bright yellow part of the rind, not the white pith underneath.

I LOVE THIS RECIPE! and frankly I love the way you describe it as you cook it. I watched it first and wrote down the ingredients I needed. When I was ready to cook it, I watched it again and paused each time I needed time to do a step. You were easy to follow by and the meal was GREAT! I love your flipping videos but now I might just love the cooking videos more.

I made this tonight with gluten free rotini and it was really good. My daughter thought it was too spicy, so next time, I may just add a smaller amount of the red pepper.

It’s definitely on my list for having when guests come over. So easy and filling.

Was not a believer of the google series of dishes. But WOW, !!!! Dave has made a great channel with this A.I. series. Great job Sir. I love to cook and like seeing these dishes and have had great feedback from my family all due to Dave (I claim all to my own ability but only I know the TRUTH). Lol❤

That sounds awesome Dave. The only thing I was surprised about is I would have thought the recipe would have called for another approx. 20 minutes in the oven after all of the ingredients were mixed together. I feel that would even added another layer of flavor. That looks like it is definitely worth making for the family.

If the feta is overwhelming, you can substitute cream cheese or go half feta, half cream cheese.
This recipe is easy and good.

Looks really good, Dave! I’m not a fan of skins…tomato, potato, cucumber etc. I may try it with peeled, crushed tomatoes!

I you roll the lemon back and forth on the counter before you cut it you will get a lot more juice.

FYI if you set a wooden spoon across the top of the pan while the water is boiling it won't.
