4 Levels of Crepes: Amateur to Food Scientist | Epicurious

Показать описание
We challenged chefs of three different skill levels - amateur Jerry, home cook Kit, and professional chef Penny Stankiewicz from The Institute of Culinary Education - to make us their favorite dessert crepe recipe. Once each level of chef had served up their creation, we asked expert food scientist Rose to explain the choices each made along the way - both good and bad. Which crepe looks most “magnifique” to you?

As much as I love the usual level 1's, many of them were starting to border on level 2. Glad to see someone breaking out the Bisquick again XD

The only thing these crepes are missing is half a cheesecake, or according to Stephen, the other half of the cheesecake.

To whoever washes the dishes after these videos. You are appreciated.

I am happy to see Penny back missed her and the various methods she employees alcohol into dessert.

Penny: "Any time there's water you can swap it out" while popping champagne

Never seen this Level 1 chef before! But glad we are back to our regularly scheduled program. Level 1’s were getting too competent

The level 1 chef talks like a level 2 but his ingredients are DEF level one lmao

My only wish is that they could all taste each other's dishes.

Level 1 chef: I love bananas. They’re always full of protein.
Banana: 28 grams of carb, *1 gram of protein.*
Banana: That’s not me, but I’m flattered.

The best thing about Rose and that 4th part is that she doesn't disrespect the premade products and, honestly, gives a lot of integrity to some of those interesting ingredients from episodes past.

Rosemary Trout is literally responsible for a vast improvement of my cooking skills. I feel like I've waited my whole life for someone who explains cooking like that to me. What a revelation <3 I love Epicurious! <3

Hold on, why is no one questioning the level one chef saying bananas are fully of protein 😂 hon, bananas are pretty much 100% carbohydrate 🤣🥲

**Within a split second of seeing Penny..**
Me: I am sure there will be some sort of alcohol in it..
Penny: **shows a bottle of champagne**
Me:Knew it!!!

Queen of Alcohol, indeed.. 👑👑👸

Seriously though.. Penny could do a segment where there are bottles of different kinds of alcohol (beer, wine, vodka, champagne, whiskey, gin, etc) and she will incorporate each alcohol with a dessert.

level 1 chef almost had me because he's confident at explaining what he does and then he said bananas are full of protein... yep, he's level 1 alright

Level 1 has the presentation skills of a level 3

Gorgeous, but as a person living in France and making crêpes pretty regularly, I think the coolest part of it was missing: to flip them in the air :D

Jerry is so good at explaining what he's doing.

Level 1: Doesn't really know how to cook a crepe.
Level 2: Has the right tool to spread the batter yet doesnt know how to use it.
Level 3: Embraced the crepe spirit, but loses half the fun not flippin them.

Random french grandma: Ah, kids...
