Underrated Western Movies of the 1960s

One of the more popular decades for the Western genre, the 1960s. Arguably more westerns were made during this time than any other. Some of the greatest movies were made then. Today I've taken 1 movie from each year of the decade that I think were underrated.

Some may call it underrated but, honestly, Sgt. Rutledge is one of the best westerns ever made.
Woody Strode's portrayal is more than awe-inspiring and the court-martial scene would bring tears to the hardest of folk.
I've always considered character actors like Woody, Jack Elam, Richard Jaeckel, and so many others, the REAL stars. They've been grossly ignored by Hollywood for decades!
They are the MEAT to every movie made.

Though a TV movie, the remake of The Virginian by Bill Pullman was fantastic and beatifully filmed.
Pullman's love interest was played by Diane Lane. I love this version, next to Gary Cooper's break out in the original.
I think it's very underrated.

FP, I'm currently watching The Tin Star. I know you'd know it. I've seen this movie many times and it always is like the first time. I could never turn it off once I start. 😊. I miss Henry Fonda.

I would not consider Hombre to be underrated.I reguard the film extremely highly.I rank it behind Shane and ahead of The Wild Bunch, to be the second best western ever made.

No mention of Richard Boone as a great Bad Guy in Hombre. Really? That movie wasnt all Paul Newman. A great cast in Hombre.

I really enjoy these videos. However, if you want to make these types of videos about famous people and such, don't start every time with apologies for name pronunciation. Do some research and learn how to say the names of you aren't certain. It'll go a long way to making you more of a expert on the genre.
