How to Repot a Bonsai tree

To prevent your Bonsai from being pot-bound and ultimately starving to death, It's crucial to repot, or transplant regularly. A tree becomes pot-bound as it uses up the available nutrients in the soil and the roots grow to the shape of the pot.

Due to the lack of space and nutrients, the trees stop growing, and if no action is taken, it will surely die. Repotting or transplanting your Bonsai will resupply the tree with the nutrients it needs to grow and flourish.

Watching you work and listening to your voice is like staring at a campfire. Calms me down and brings peace. Great video brother...

i bought a bonsai from a bonsai shop near me, and with the instruction i need to repot it this spring, but i don't know if it is good to do it myself or pay the shop to see how it is done. Diffrently from the video my bonsai doesn't have a soil like yours, it just have like fine soil, so i don't know if they are doing the right things. My bonsai is a zanthoxylum piperitum

Please would you tell me what kind of bonsai is that one? It has tiny white flowers, I have one, different shape, but the leaves and flowers are exactly the same, I'd really appreciate it.

Hi! I just received 2 bonsai, Azalea and Gardenia. Both came from Bonsai Outlet. I was told the soil isn’t great but I’m not sure if I should take it all the way out and the anchor. It’s mid summer, and the Azalea came with blooms, and gardenia looks super healthy tho has a few yellow leaves which I assume was because of transport.

Hi, I have a few months old pin oak growing in my backyard right now and I was thinking of turning it to bonsai, should I wait for the next spring to remove it from the soil and pot in a bonsai pot or should I do it sooner than that?

About this specific example: how long are you going to keep those two twisted protruding big roots? When to remove them?

QUESTION—

Do those pots have drainage holes?
I was just gifted a bonsai tree in a ceramic pot. But there isn’t any drainage holes? Do I need to re-pot it?

Just got my first tree. I'm confused. Is the soil you add around the tree after its potted different than the bottom soil layer? What soil am I looking for here?
