10 Differences between Protestants and Orthodox Church

What are the main differences between Protestants and the Eastern Orthodox Church? They both call themselves Christians and consider themselves more right than the other. Besides dress code, buildings, style, and music, what are the essential theological differences between these two Christian religions?

I interviewed 5 Orthodox priests in California to examine the critical differences. (Of course, after doing extensive research so I don't look like an idiot in front of them)

Orthodoxy is based. I am almost completely convinced of orthodoxy at this point.

Having respectfully heard many of the differences between Orthodox and Protestant, I believe Orthodox to be more correct.

The Orthodox Church is the only church....

Protestants-"This book is the ultimate authority."

Orthodox-"I wrote that book."

Because of your video, I’m even more convinced that Orthodoxy is right. Thank you for strengthening my conviction!

By 30 seconds in, you are refuting history..."if the Orthodox church were biblical enough.." where do you think the Bible come from?.."There Protestants woulds have joined the E Orthodox Church." actually, Luther communicated with the Eat, and stated "We stand with the Greeks." They communicated for some time, which is amazing given the Orthodox Church was under occupation from the Ottomans. "only the Bible has the authority to speak for God" what about those few hundred years where there was no consensus on what the Bible even was. Later "Protestants don't pray to Mary or the Saints because...they don't help." Orthodox don't pray to them either, but ask, as we would ask anyone, to pray for us. Are they not alive in Christ? Is this not the Christ of the living and not of the dead? Are there not a "great cloud of witnesses?" shoot, even the Protestant view of the Atonement came from Anselm, a catholic bishop in the 1200s...

No matter what denomination we are, we should love each other and not have personal wars!

There was no Orthodox Church in Germany during the time of Martin Luther. The Orthodox Church was pretty much confined to the Ottoman and Russian Empire.

The two photos in the beginning tell us a lot. Orthodoxy is sacred, Protestantism (especially non-denominational or evangelical) is a rock concert.

Dude, stop embarrassing yourself and study Church history.

Oh gosh this is painful to listen to. You made the Orthodox look even more correct.

I was raised in the Protestant Church, there was one cross, atop the altar in the centre of the church. The minister is more like a teacher than a leader. Our leader is Jesus Christ and we pray directly to Him. We celebrate Christmas, Palm Sunday, Lent and Easter. The only sacraments we perform are baptism, communion and marriage. Upon His ultimate sacrifice, Christ forgave all of our sins, ergo we do not need to confess to a man, but to God Himself. Good deeds are not required, but we do them anyway. The only rules that we follow are the Ten Commandments. I don’t care if your Catholic or Orthodox (my girlfriend is Catholic), to quote Emperor Constantine of Byzantium, “We are all the same in the eyes of God!”

"in a protestant church you'll barely see a cross". Seems like protestant churches in the US are a lot different from European ones. In Europe there are real churches, not concert halls lol.

The Lutherans actually did investigate joining the Orthodox Church. But their ideas where considered so un Biblical that the Orthodox Patriarch of Constantinople told them to go back the Catholic Church and stop being rebellious. Also man kinds sinfulness does not stop at the church doors. So man has to have things his way and not Gods. That is why there are so many splits from the Orthodox Church. Good try Pastor but like all non orthodox you fail to realize you are trying to spit in the wind.

I was raised Protestant but haven't been a part of any "church" in 20 years. Orthodox church is sounding better all the time
