I got the screen and LCD unit on Amazon for about $30 with shipping and it came with all the tools. We got quotes from several places to have them do it and they ran $130 to $150.  Order the kit, follow this video carefully and you can do this!  I am a 50 something Mom, not any kind of tech person.   I looked at several youtube videos but this one was the best.  Very clear and the video was good, some of them you can't really see what they are doing.  Get a piece of white paper and set the screws on it as you take them out, labeling the part they came from.  The hardest thing about this was the screws are really, really tiny.  Taking them out was not too bad but getting them turned the right way to put them back in took some time.  Trust me, if I can do this YOU CAN DO THIS!  Thanks iphoneTY.

Brilliant vid I came unstuck when I was replacing screen and wasn't warned about having to remove mic/camera/speaker and home button from original screen assembly and re-attach to new screen assembly - Cheers! 5*

It depends on where you get it. But as far as quality goes all the ones I have seen have been good. check the feedback though.. I remember buying some iPhone 4 screens that were complete garbage. Also don't fall for sellers who sell just the glass. The lcd and digitizer glass are adhered together, you will destroy the lcd long before you could ever seperate it from the glass

It is possible to replace just the glass, but it is a pain stacking task and not to mention you run the chance of cracking the digitizer/LCD. In this model as well as the 4s the digitizer is fused with the LCD and the glass is just there to protect it. The glass is glued to the digitizer/LCD with L.O.C.A which is an adhesive that can only be dried with a UV light. You can find these products on eBay and I'm sure Amazon has them as well. Good luck, I have taken the glass off of one 4s only.

Thank you for the video. It helped immensely. My only issue is that the new screen has an issue when moving from right to left or vice versa. So half of the times i cant unlock the main screen, or i cant watch my pictures move from one to the other. what might be the issue? because everything else works perfectly

Good video, however in your video your iPhone screen is smashed. What if your iPhone has a deep thin scratch on the glass panel? Can you replace ONLY the front glass panel or do you have to go out and by the front glass panel + digitizer? Thanks

i really would love if you show how to replace the glass, changing the LCD is like $200 just the part, the digitizer is like $20 so i think a lot of people would like to learn how to do it

eBay. If you can wait a little bit the prices will go down though. They are really expensive right now but give it a month or two and the price will be more reasonable.

If you have never taken apart an iPhone. How hard would you say this would be. I'm a mechanic and can tear apart a motor but this I'm hesitant about trying.
