I move to Ocala resently the cost of living is high, medical is scarce, there's nothing to do there, it rains constantly

I'm a FL native that moved out ten years ago. The only place I've ever considered moving to was Ocala. This list is hogwash imo. Most on this are on or near beaches. Take into consideration of flood insurance you'd need should a hurricane come your way.

You are sadly mistaken about Port St. Lucie. The rise in shootings and crime is so bad there now. I used to work in property management there only a few years back but just in the short year I was there, we had a shooting in our “safe” neighborhood (close to the PD, might I add) the second night I was there. We had 3 shootings within the same neighborhood only in a year. Mostly domestic violence situations and one murder literally the week I moved out. My daughter started high school there and the first month of school a kid was expelled for brining a gun on campus.

We moved quickly after. To a much better neighborhood on the west coast. PSL USED to be the best city to visit and live and it was very beautiful until about 7-10 years ago. It’s went to shit since then.

I’m definitely going to look into fort Myers & St. Lucie but as I’m doing my “YouTube research”, the last video I saw had Daytona and Jacksonville on the list of worst cities, mainly for crime & poverty.
I have a family of 5 with 3 children. I need a safe place to raise them.

We were told that Ft. Meyers was destroyed by a hurricane. Probably not the best place to move insurance is probably pretty high now.

Sarasota might be "the best place to live in Florida" but what is never talked about is the constant building due to poor or no urban planning. Traffic is almost unbearable. What was a 10-minute drive is now 20 - 30 minutes. There is only one road over the bay to the keys (a 4-mile trip) which can be so backed up that it can take an hour to drive. Roundabouts, which no one knows how to maneuver add to the traffic problems. And, during "season' this year, the hospital was at total capacity most of the time. There were no rooms for some people - they spent if not all of their time on movable beds in hallways, . A hospital branch was built in Venice and was at total capacity within a couple of months. These are the things no one talks about when they talk about Sarasota. Think twice about moving here.

I really like Florida, I want to live there as well, but I have heard some very negative things about Florida, and saw it when I visited, it’s a beautiful place and I hope I can live there someday!

What about Spring Hill north of Tampa, consider safest area low
Crime. As Florida native places in middle of Florida than being on each coast line, or your into visiting beach whenever. ❤

Jacksonville is filled with homeless people, not kept well in many places. Low rent but low quality apartment . Too crowded .
