I work in software qa and this was genuinely interesting. Just by going through the different versioned names of the model kinda gives us insight into what Apple did for testing.

I don't work on hardware though so seeing the testing tools (as apps) they've built is pretty interesting too.

You probably could’ve just run “exit” in the command window on that dingus who wouldn’t turn off in order to exit that app. Just a guess from some dinking around with a similar vintage iPod my grandfather found (I was trying to get it to run some code I wrote by “updating” it to a dev build I found somewhere online, no idea where).
