Missing teeth are a great concern as the can cause a significant loss in function and esthetics. Missing teeth can be replaced either by a fixed denture or a removable denture. Now a removable denture is nothing but an acrylic tooth which replaces the missing tooth which is held together by a pink or a gum colored acrylic which also has some metal extensions which take support from the remaining natural teeth for support. Now a removable partial denture, as the name suggests has to be removed on a regular basis by the wearer. Removable partial dentures are temporary because they do not have the strength and the durability to withstand forces of chewing. Patients who are wearing a removable denture experience some difficulty in speech and also in alteration in taste. But on the contrary a bridge, as commonly said is fixed to the remaining natural teeth. So there is no removable option. It is a fixed denture which is fixed on to the remaining natural teeth. The fixed dentures are slightly more expensive than the removable denture, but they have the strength and the durability which lasts for a long time.
