I got into 1v1 Starcraft II very late. Pretty much missed most of the early hype before LoTV. I remember watching this video early on when I was trying to suck less at ladder. Never got particularly good of course but these kinds of tips made it more enjoyable to play. For me and probably for many other lower level players, trying to suck a little bit less takes a lot of work and I imagine it's just orders of magnitudes worse at the higher level. Of course I know you've moved on to AOE and don't intend on coming back. Anyway, big thanks for how you helped ease many of us noobs into the game and then kept bringing so much daily enjoyment that could bring people through regular boring weeks and that could even make life a little better during rough times of life. <3

How basically everyone increases APM:
1. At the start of the game, hotkey 1 SCV and the command center in two separate control groups, and spam 1 and 2.
2. In the middle of the game, just click around with your army as much as possible and micro as hard as you can, even if unnecessary.
3. In late game, move your army back and forth.
4. If you don't know what you are doing, just spam keys

Good video. However, I think the successor to this video should be what to do with the excess amp that you will find yourself with once you get past the early game. Ex: the importance of splitting at the edge of creep, sharking your army, sending out scouting marines, hotekying your army, hotkeying your buildings, building appropriate amount of production

I don't know if it really mattered, but getting an actual keyboard overnight increased my APM by 20. I was previously playing on a laptop, but on an actual full size keyboard I found it much easier to use hotkeys. On the smaller laptop keyboard, i'd often fatfinger the hotkey buttons and doing shit / control + button wasn't as automatic.

Also the spamming seems pointless but it definitely has a function. After I got into the habit of cycling through my hotkeys for no real reason, I often catch things I would have missed (like not missing a chance to upgrade or build units from certain buildings, making workers, etc), or not 'forgetting' to build units during combat. My macro has definitely improved tons after getting into the spamming habit. Now onto my sore forearms, lol.
