The official audio of "How I Got Over" by Aretha Franklin with James Cleveland and The Southern California Community Choir from the album 'Amazing Grace' (1972). 'Amazing Grace' earned Aretha a Grammy in 1973 for Best Soul Gospel Performance and remains the best selling Gospel album of all time.

Stay In Touch with the Queen of Soul…

*******************

An icon of 20th and 21st century music, the voice of the civil rights movement, and the undisputed Queen of Soul—there is only one Aretha Franklin. In her incredible six-decade career, Aretha evolved from teenage gospel star to reigning pop and R&B diva, recording classics like “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” “Chain Of Fools”, “Think” (lyrics by Aretha Franklin), definitive versions of the songs “Respect” and “I Say a Little Prayer”, and global hits like “Freeway Of Love,” “I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)”, and “A Rose Is Still A Rose.”

Altogether, 112 of her singles reached the charts, with 20 No. 1 R&B singles, the most ever by a female artist. She won 18 Grammy Awards (including the first eight trophies for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance) and, out of recognition for her for indelible contribution to American music and culture, received both the Presidential Medal of Freedom and a Pulitzer Prize.

My mom used to play this song a lot years ago. Didn’t understand much of it back then . But now as a 32 year old man it all makes sense. My father has been in the hospital for the past 4 days . He underwent surgery and had is pituitary gland removed. Very devastating to see him like this😢😢😢. I haven’t stopped crying . But listening to this song somewhat uplifts my spirits and reminds me that he will be okay . I love you dad 💪🏾❤️😢 Get well soon

Pretty sure this song is the cure to depression. Or, rather, the One of whom she's singing about is. Thank you Lord for pulling me out of the muck and placing my feet on The Rock.

Sing Aretha! There is nothing in the world like to choral gospel voices in the black church! The rhythmic clapping. The smoldering energy of spirit! The release of all your worries in world, enveloped by the beautiful voices calling and responding in praise and worship. Have Mercy!

Listening to this on may1, 2023one day after my 65th birthday. Looking over my life and thanking God for bringing me over. Through stroke and brain tumor blood clots. Nobody but Him brought me over I maybe in a wheelchair now but God God God thank that I can still shout

God pulled me out of the pit of my addiction. The abyss I made myself. He never quit looking for this lost sheep. To Him I give all the glory! Turn my will and my life over to my Savior each and every day. God is so good. Thank you Jesus for saving this sinner. God bless you all

God morning, when I was a child, my mom would wake us up with playing this song on Sunday mornings. She had me to learn it in order to sing It in church... This goes out to all the mothers today on this morning... Happy Mother's Day 2020.

While Aretha is absolutely out of this world on this track album. A big up also needs to be given to the rhythm section, Bernard Purdie on drums and Chuck Rainey on Bass

All the grownups from when I was a kid have now all got over. I'm not religious yet I somehow know I'll set them again.
