In the Black households I grew up in I dont recall anybody saying pumpkin pie is nasty, but sweet potato pie was the preferred choice. The problem here is the store bought pie. Store bought pumpkin and sweet potato pie are absolutely no match for homemade pies. There is no pie in any store that can match the pies our Grandmother's make.
