How to Use Threads from Instagram

Threads is a new app from instagram for text based conversations.

This is Instagram direct competitor to Twitter. With Threads, you can follow other users, post updates and follow public conversations.

Threads will show you post from people you follow as well as recommended posts.

You can get Threads directly on the Instagram app or the App Store. It’s available for iPhone and Android.

With threads, you can import your information from Instagram including your username and bio description.
You can also choose to create a public or private account.

Threads from Instagram is text based, but you can also share photos and videos. Your text based threads can be 500 characters long.

You can also mention people using the @, when composing a thread.

I would love this app if it excludes the tiktok videoes that are spammed on every social media nowdays. Text and pictures are the best

Be careful! You can't delete your Threads account without also deleting your Instagram account. That may be one the points that goes against EU laws.

Hi!! I wanna suggest providing written captions to your videos. I sympathize if you don't have the time, money, or energy, but it makes your content more accessible! It helps hard-of-hearing folks and non-HOH folks in certain contexts :)

My question is, how do you get your posts noticed if hashtags aren’t a thing there?

I like it, except for one thing: hashtags don't work, and there's no way to search for a specific word or topic. The search function only allows you to look for people. For example, if I want to see posts about a news event happening in my hometown of Montreal, I can't search for "Montreal" or any terms related to the event. Consequently, I can't view what people are saying about it.

Like Twitter, it does not seem to allow editing a post. Instagram does allow so that suprised me.

It's frustrating how many random posts come up in your feed, from people who seemingly I have no connection with. May just be a result of the app being so new and so few posts, though. I hope it becomes more populated with the people who you actually follow. I also can't seem to find a list of people who follow in the app?

How comes you can’t login with Facebook but can with Instagram when in theory it’s all connected via meta anyways with Facebook and Instagram sharing things like reels? 🤔
