I just wanna say after watching this video a few times and having fasttech comment back to my comment, I decided to buy the laser lense deck off their website. I just installed it tonight. I've never done a console repair but I felt confident with their videos playing in the background. I can say my PlayStation now reads disks again, and it feels good to know im covered with a lifetime warranty if this laser decides to stop working. Thanks fasttech

Awesome! My PS5 disc reader has already failed twice since I purchased it (only a little over 1 year of ownership). If this damn thing breaks again, I'll fix it myself.

Feel compelled to mention - I did a laser deck replacement because I was having a disc read error only on blu rays. DVDs worked fine. It didn't fix it. Did some more research and stumbled on a random thread that mention you need to switch display to 1080 and/or off of VRR. That fixed it.

10:25 it's critical not to pinch that damn cable. I pinched it and now it won't register that the disc is inserted.

I know you can't plug another disc drive in the ps5 bc of the protections, but could I get another disc drive and switch the logic boards out? would that work?
my daughter shoved one of those little stencil gear shaped plastic pieces from the vibrating pen art sets into my disc drive so now when I put in a disc it makes loud noises and can't read the disc. any advice would be appreciated!

Is the logic board LOCKED to that one disc drive or can you reccycle the logic baord for another disc drive ?

I have a PS5 that recently stopped reading discs. When I insert a disk I can hear the drive begin to spin up and it sounds like the laser is seeking, but after a while the console says the disc is not recognized. Can you sell me the parts to fix this? What do I need?

i’m having trouble right now with my console not reading games or blue ray movies. it will read regular dvds but when i put in a game or anything it will give me the “could not read disk” do you have any ideas?

That cable just runs along the back of the drive, and it isn't glued down, you can easily slide it up to get more room
