Quickly check that what it's saying is actually there.
It helps a bunch but within reason.

what i like to use it for is when im having trouble understanding a text, i paste sections in chat gpt to help me understand hard academic texts better, of course alongside the actual paper so that i can kinda check if it matches with what the actual author is trying to say

I'd advise not to use it unless completely out of options it is good for suggesting chapter outlines and research questions but not great at accurate information most of the dates it suggests are wrong also citations and references are not authentic

This is terrible on so many levels. Chat GPT does not have access to journals or anything behind a paywall. It creates a "summary" of summaries on the internet. Read the abstract, introduction, and conclusion. Don't use a copy of a copy of a copy to ground your dissertation. Horrifying. But we need ease and efficiency, they say! This is where academic knowledge grinds to a halt or devolves into eating itself until we wake up. This is the start.
