I had the opposite happened. I was very overweight when I got my first ID picture taken, lost 170lbs over the course of about 2 years. Went to a dispensary, and the receptionist said to me "hun it's time for a new ID it says you're over 300 pounds on here" 😅💀

I got my passport photo taken when I was clean cut and looked like a decent member of society.
Then I grew out the hair and the beard.
Next time I flew the TSA guy said with palpable disappointment “what happened, man?”

This happened to my mom 😂. The employee had to bring in an extra person to confirm it was her, and when they did, the first person said, “go back to the old look”

A 10 year passport is also horrible idea for anyone in Canada. I’m 30 and my passport photo is from when I was 21. You change a lot in that amount of time lol. Coming home from Turkey a few months ago the lady at customs in Turkey asked me if I had surgery 😭 I had to tell her to look at the date issued and she laughed.

I had an opposite situation. They took my pic for a work ID when I wasn't prepared for it and I looked meh. One security guard looked at my ID a few years later and said "How am I supposed to let you in, you don't look anything like that"
It was truly a complement.
