as a mechanical engineer, I confirm that the software, computer and electronic guys get more credit for salary negotiation. As pointed out, its usually to do with the type of work we do vs the world's tech focus - a mechanical engineer would have been the top dog 50 years ago where as now we focus more on computers in general. I've wanted to do a mechatronics Masters degree ever since senior year. Hopefully soon. Although mechanical engineers still get paid less, we continue to thrive on numbers, logic and problem solving. Most mechanical engineers i know ended up in finance or business analytics.

I was choosing mechatronics as a plan C for my university study.
and I was feeling kinda bumed that I couldn't study Computer Science/engineering but this video completely boosted my morale.
I will be doing everything I like, and I'll still be able to apply to software, AI, and automation jobs, and added to it I'll also know more about mechanical engineering.
Overall I feel like I'll be a jack of trades and then I'll be able to get experience and specialize in whatever interests me more.
and if everything I said is correct, I'll have a grate time studying mechatronics

Hi Oliver !! Good job !
For me I decided to retrain for a career in engineering technology at the age of 38. Before I always had obstacles, typically European obstacles .... I've just finished my bachelor's degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology at the age of 42, and that was with Coop Studies courses (company/university), where I didn't learn anything at bachelor's level on the company side! But i like the topics ( engineering filed) I'd like to specialize in mechatronics and try to do more software development/ Online studies. I'd love to be in North America! Here in Europe, we're a constipated society. Companies consider you dead after 45 years! It's another world ! There's discrimination in every direction: age, ethnic origin, religion...everything! If you show that you're creative, it's frowned upon by recruiters, who are afraid of their jobs! That's Europe's shitty mentality. If you like Finance and engineering technologies, here you'll be seen as mentally unstable, and you're a guy who doesn't know what he wants... Just Bulshit !

Too bad! :D I'm not 20 or I'd have gone to the USA or Canada! :D 🤣🤣😅😅

You've got a great Youtube channel, keep up your passion for technology and mechatronics!
Thanks a lot! From Border between France / Germany.

I think mechatronics engineering is based mainly inside the automation field you know PLC's programing VFD's or even SCADA networks, and that's is why I'd like to do a master degree.
