You mentioned that you have a 9 month old little boy who seems to be eating solids well, but he's just not interested in drinking. You said that you can get him to nurse maybe twice a day, but he refuses a bottle. And it is important for him to continue to drink either formula or breast milk until he's a year of age, and he should actually be drinking about 4 to 5 ounces 4 to 5 times a day. So the fact that he's not drinking much might be concerning, especially if it leads to dehydration. My suggestion to you is that you continue to encourage the bottle, but he's also old enough that you could try a sippy cup. Maybe he'll be more responsive to that. Some mothers find better luck by trying different types of nipples, because sometimes that's what's hanging their baby up. But nonetheless, you do need to continue to encourage fluids at least 4 to 5 times a day. And in spite of your best efforts, if he's not responding well, it's important for you to talk with your pediatrician, because then after asking you more specific questions, and actually performing an exam on him to make sure that he's A) Growing enough and getting what he needs, and B) Not dehydrated, based on all of their findings, they'll be able to decide if further action is required.

A few signs of mild to moderate dehydration include playing less than usual, a dried parched mouth, having less wet diapers than usual. And severe signs include excessive fussiness, excessive sleepiness, only urinating once or twice a day. So if you see any of these symptoms in your baby, be sure he's seen as soon as possible.

Hello..
I want to know how can I breastfeed my baby. She's almost 4 months and I stopped breastfeeding her cause she hurt my nipples the first week I was breastfeeding her so I had to stop it was way too painful. But I'm home and I want to know how can I get her back on my breast, I've tried a couple of times when she was almost 2 months and she cried and cried until I gave her her bottle. Please let me know what I can do thanks.
