DIY Solo Garden Office Build, Part 16 - Electrics and Plasterboarding
Показать описание
I did this in January 😳. Just keep putting off edits and uploads - and I have another big project on the go.
So lots of sockets, as this is an office / gaming / entertainment room.
The polythene sheeting, whether necessary or not is questionable. But it was cheap enough, and easy to put in, so why not. Helps prevent moisture going into the walls.
I didn’t want to pay a plasterer, nor did I want to plaster myself - as I’ve done it before and it’s pretty hard to get a clean finish without sanding. So tried joint taping for the first time. Fairly time consuming and difficult on the ceilings, probably took me as long as it would have taken the plasterer to plaster the lot.
The finish is pretty good, but a few glitches in places - but no more glitches than I see in professional plasterers work, and I’ve had 3 plasterers in my home, and the walls are certainly not perfect. Maybe at the start they looked ok, but over time cracks, movement etc… trowel marks in certain lights. So yes, I recommend taping the joints and getting a nice wide (300mm) taping knife. The boards were tapered edge, which helps… but you have to cut them at some point, whereby you lose your tapered edge.
