Carly is such a strong person. She gave her relationship with Shaun her all. She did her research, she was kind, patient, open, attentive, caring. And in the end she broke up with him because she knew he was in love with Lea and that neither of them could be happy with each other. She let him go so he could be with Lea. And it wasn't like she was hateful and paranoid and wanted to punish Shaun for "cheating". She was right about Shaun loving Lea. She also didn't bother him after the break up. She genuinely wanted him to have a better life with Lea.

Personally speaking, I think Carly made the right choice to break up with Shaun. He's apparently in love with her, but deeply inside has special feelings for Lea. Btw, I feel for Carly. She is too much caring for Shaun and she deserves truly someone who loves her

She tried her best to be patient, loving and nurturing with Shaun, but in the end she could no longer deny what she sees and recognizes between them...
