To gain someone trust we need time ( so is not so easy - it is a process ) but it is very easy and quick way to lose it when someone is dishonest .
That is what I know .

I think that the brotherhood of the military is shaped not just for the relationship but also for the hell they have to go through together. Band of brothers, by Stephen Ambrose, is a good example of that.

Simon, have you heard of the study, "The Experimental Generation of Interpersonal Closeness"? The researchers tested a set of 36 questions to try to quickly foster interpersonal closeness. While it is perhaps not great to take shortcuts on something like this, asking the right questions and listening to the answers from each other can help.

I would say that this is more about love than trust. Love means giving rather than hoping for attention. Trust comes through integrity, ie doing what you're saying

When you accept the Lord into your heart he supernaturally changes your heart so your heart begins to desire to love others in full all the time regardless of this or that. He gives you a new heart and the closer you grow in intimacy with Him the more love pours out.

The only true way to build Trust is to be Trustworthy. The people who want to be trusted but lack the qualities necessary to be worthy of Trust are always the ones looking for shortcuts and an easy way to get around that fact. They want what they don’t deserve but aren’t willing to earn it. They resort to faking it and hoping people don’t notice. They’re the same people who want to know how to control others easily but have no control over themselves.
