If someone has a similar issue and have all settings correct hold down the ps button and go to sound and devices and uncheck mute game chat and mute all microphones.
Edit: wild that they dont have this in the main settings for the actual console.

I just bought my mic and it worked perfectly fine I could hear but nothing would go through, I have a microphone where you plug it in to where you talk through by the ear piece. I just unplugged it and plugged it back in fully and it worked!

I tried the mic on the ps5 and it worked but the ps4 it won’t work on any controller I tried two different controllers and it won’t work (btw I had my ps4 fixed the entire power board because it exploded so could that be an issue too?)

So my settings show up that the headphones are there but the adjust microphone level is still grayed out
