I met Bob in Clear Lake Iowa in 2017 and he was a real nice man. Had all the cowboy gear on including a most magnificent black hat and the rest. He did not talk much but told me he still had bad times over the death of his half- brother - Ritchie.

I saw the movie and Ritchie and his brother were very contrast to each other. I was sad his brother Ritchie died so young and could've done more at the peak of his music career. We may never understand why some things happen in life but it's nice to hear that his brother lived a long life and matured. I'm pretty sure the unexpected death of his brother made him realize how precious life is.

One story I remember the most from the making of LA BAMBA was the scene where Ritchie gets on the plane. His real family was invited to watch the filming and just when Lou is about to get on the plane, Ritchie Valens’ sister goes up to him and says, ”Why did you get on the plane?” while crying her eyes out...They obviously stopped filming while she hugged Lou and cried..then resumed filming..The part where Lou is being teased by The Big Bopper and you see him “sniffling” is just after they all had a good cry...including the real Bob

I have always felt deeply about this movie, it was all way before my time however, I cried like a baby in the end... the movie came out when I was a kid and now seeing it in my 40’s ... Bob had so many childhood traumas ... he was a very hurt soul in the beginning. He leaf must have turned over a few years after Ritchie’s death. I’m glad he did the work to heal and make the change to be better. RIP Bob 💔🕊🙏🏼

Thats it their all gone now .How Sad that once they were all together as a Loving Family then he Loses Richie at the height of his career.Then his mother pass, s away he Carried a lot of pain for a long time and Now Bob is gone.Time went by to Fast.those songs will always have a special place in my Heart.
