I was in a bad side impact crash once. The flying pieces of side window cut my face and then my hands as I climbed over it to get to the other side of the vehicle. Nice to see the CX-5 has laminated glass that didn't spray glass all over the interior.

I bought the CX-5 early this year after very deep safety research for crash test. Love it and it has the best noise attenuation.

I got T-boned in my moms RAV4 on my way to pick her up from the airport. The driver was going 50 but it was a Prius so all the damage was fairly low. This is very accurate though. He was going so fast my car spun to the side and his continued straight and hit hit another car head on. No major injuries but still very terrifying. It made me happy I was driving an SUV because the impact would’ve been a lot worse if I was in my own car which ironically, is also a Prius.

Such a great, informative test! I’m
glad they have increased the speed to real world mph and adjusted the body of the “sled” to the bumper/hood pick up body style. There are definitely so many on the road between large suv and pickups.

This is an excellent test reflecting one of the worst case scenarios when an accident happens from the side and with a heavy SUV.
Thank you for your hard work and sharing so much insights!

Why did both jeeps have stabilisation to prevent it from flipping?
Surely, if they were going to flip, that would be part of the result? 🤔

When I bought the first Mazda6 in 2003, I remember it having best in class crash ratings and that was 20 yrs ago. I'm really looking forward to seeing what they bring out with the new turbo inline 6 engine and a redesigned rear drive sedan (new Mazda6) and SUV (CX-9 size vehicle)

Im surprised that Volvo didnt have a good rating since safety is what they are known for. I love these kind of videos. Please make more.

I'm a subaru fan and was surprised to see the Forester only get A for the side test (instead of G). Even more interesting, when looking up the test results on the IIHS website, the forester use to get G, but the updated test now shows A. I wonder what changed? Also, we are shopping for the Subaru Ascent later this year and they are one of the few vehicles to get G ratings on every single IIHS test.

Did anyone notice that at 7:22 when they were supposed to be showing the Nissans inside angle they showed the honda CRV angle. Which they already showed. I can tell because the steering wheel says honda on it/
