Hey! So I did a quick edit and re-uploaded this from two days ago. I had some incorrect info (and included some additional info) thanks to the previous comments ❤

I've been a big user of Overbridge and the A4/AR (formerly) for like 4-5 years now. 100% do that tip of running a DIN Midi Cable out to whatever unit you're using for OB - The overbridge driver does a -lot-, and with the amount of work it does it's kinda too much to get sample-accurate timing over the USB connection alone. If you split the midi from the audio you get the best of all worlds, and depending on your DAW you can use all the I/O on the unit, including using the box(es) as line-inputs for other gear, which is crazy handy.

Great video as always. Thanks for sharing. Not sure if anyone already mentioned it in the comments, so just thought I'd add. There's actually a workaround for the track limitations in Ableton. Within the Overbridge app, if you go to the Mixer tab, you can assign the tracks to specific outputs. It's a bit cumbersome, but what I do is record route track 16 to Output 1, Delay to Out 2, Reverb to Out 3, and Chorus to Out 4. I'll then record the first take of my song with tracks 1 to 15 on and track 16 and the effects muted. Then i'll do another take with the opposite. That enables you to capture all the tracks for your song. Don't know if that was confusing or not. LOL

I had many classic and modern synths including a large 5U and 3U modular. The DT2 is by far the most interesting piece of gear I ever owned !ThX for the nice content

No latency issues with bitwig.

Annoyed that they have not included a proper slice or granular mode.

Also annoyed you can’t drag and drop sounds onto pads

I made tracks using plugins from ableton, all sequenced with the digitakt. Worked pretty well. I also have tracks exclusively using midi sequencing stuff on ableton.

Finally someone who mentione the latency issue. I sold the digi bcse of that. It was 32 ms on mine... and i am a key player so...

DT1 turn off latency compensation and there was zero latency on the recording. DT2 I have t tried recording yet but I don’t see why it would be different.

I've been waiting for Overbridge so I can use my computer to control it... There are ways to get around the complications with Abelton... The only other things that I want is stereo sample export and the implementation of the slice/chopping ability of the Octotrack...

haha overbridge messed me up back in the day. waiting forever for that ish to come, still not working real well like 10 years later. love elektron and always got gas for new machines, but overbridge has been a meme since launch!

What are your thoughts on the AD conversion of over bridge with DT2 ? Comperable to more high class converters ?

I thought you were accurate beats haha you both look really similar to each other

Soo...cool video! I'm just wondering, it seems like you are not experiencing much latency when you're playing the DT into Ableton in the middle of the video? Maybe a touch? It doesn't seem relevant though, but did it feel weird? Anyway. I love Elektron boxes but I've noticed that in the past as well.

VST3 also has a 15 Tracks limitation in Ableton Live. Unfortunately.

Did you cover the audio routing menu in settings? You don’t have to mute the mixer tracks manually just remove them from the main out via that settings menu.

So yeah, there's a big sync delay that has to be compensated for when using overbridge, but that doesn't stop you from having tight sync between Ableton sequencing and DTII and whatever else is synced to Ableton. I can run Ableton, DTII, and an OXI One with tight sync among all three, for instance. I need to dial in a negative sync offset for the OXI when using all three, but it's a consistent, stable offset so it's fine. The only real drag is that since the offset is negative, the OXI is behind when I hit play. It takes about a quarter of a bar or so to lock up. Not a deal-breaker in the studio, although it's an important limitation you'd have to be aware of for anything live.

I do not understand, why there would be a sync issue due to latency. If latency is correctly reported to Ableton, it should be compensated for so that audio content from within Ableton is played for this amount of ms *later*, so that everything syncs up fine. Haven't tried it myself, but I am astonished this should be a problem. Is this Ableton-specific? If Elektron puts out the warning, I suppose this is a general problem. Very strange.
