From what little I know, you fixed that wall correctly. You're fixing, not re-building! Great job. That tile floor looks awesome. I agree, get your sheet rock up, vanity working and move outside. That's gonna take some time, but needs to be done so the house doesn't slide on down the hill. Happy New Year.

Great solution to a complex problem.
While the walls are open, don't forget blocking for towel bars, shelving, paper holder or grabbars.
If you really want to pamper yourself get a heated towel bar. If you do, you'll need an outlet.
Both formats are fine, not a thing wrong with variety in your presentations.

I think the fix is ideal. Old/New, doesn't matter, we've had all homes and NONE of them were perfect. This works and visually will suffice. Love all the videos however you make them. I'd totally never sell that house. If you don't make great rental income. Channel ROCKS!

This is called ballon framing, Your solution was perfect for what you had. I would get some head loc screw and go from the face of the 2x into the floor joists. This house could easily last another 50 years. Stabilizing and weather proofing this house will be the best course. Furring strips are a normal thing in remodeling, I have done alot of thembecause they work. Keep up the work, proud of you not giving up.

Brilliant! 🪪 here's your contractors license. Your analysis of the "reality" of the situation and the appropriate action is absolutely spot on. I have a buddy who gave his kitchen floor a lift in the same manner, and I had a brother in law who had a 12" thick wall in his kitchen. The house started life as a log cabin that got expanded into a 2-story frame house. Old houses always require out of the box solutions to problems.
