Isaiah 9:6 can be confusing. This video explains why calling Jesus "Everlasting Father" (some translations say "Eternal Father") isn't as weird as it seems. In fact, it's great!

“For a Child hath been born to us, A Son hath been given to us, And the princely power is on his shoulder, And He doth call his name Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭9‬:‭6‬ ‭YLT98‬‬

The truth, is plainly written in the Bible. To assume one knows the answer if it isn’t obvious, is for one to decide what the truth is, and humanity is not the creator of truth.

John 17:3
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

Isaiah 46:9
Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. 10 I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, 'My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please. '

2 Samuel 7: 22
“How great you are, Sovereign LORD! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears.

1 John 4:23
But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for such the Father seeks to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.

Matthew 23:9
And do not call anyone on earth ‘Father.’ because you have one Father, and he is in heaven.

John 20:17
Jesus said unto her, “Touch Me not, for I am not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say unto them, ‘I ascend unto My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’”

Ephesians 1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

Matthew 7:21-23
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord, ’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

1 John 5:5
Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

Galatians 4: 4
But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.

1 John 5: 10
Whoever believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne concerning his Son. 11 And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

Timothy 2:5 -6
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all—the testimony that was given at just the right time.

2 John 1:3
Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father’s Son, will be with us in truth and love.

John3: 16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John:10:36
But God has set Me apart for Himself. He sent Me into the world. Then how can you say that I am speaking against God because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’?

John 4:3
And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh, is not of God; and such is the spirit of Antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come, and even now already it is in the world.

Luke 1:35
“...therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.”

Luke 4:41
“And demons also came out of many, crying, ‘You are the Son of God!’ But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.”

Mark 3:11
“And whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, ‘You are the Son of God.’”

John 1:34
“And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.”

Matthew 14:33:
“And those in the boat worshipped him, saying, ‘Truly you are the Son of God.’”

Matthew 16:15-16
“He said to them, ‘But who do you say I am?’ Simon Peter replied, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’”

1 Corinthians 15:27
For “He has put all things under His feet.” But when He says “all things are put under Him, ” it is evident that He who put all things under Him is excepted. 28 Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all.

Ephesians 2:10
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them”

Ephesians 1:11
also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will,

Romans 8:29
For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren;

Romans 8:30
and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.

John 15:16
You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.

John 6:37
All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out.

Roman’s 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

Matthew 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

2 Thessalonians 2:13
But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.

Revelation 7:9
After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands,

Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Blessings and love to all!!!!

There is only one God. When you say the Father is not the Son, the Son is not the Father, and the Holy Spirit is neither the Father nor the Son, you are describing three gods, no matter how you try to explain it.

Deuteronomy 6:4 declares, "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord."
Deuteronomy 32:39 says, "See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me."
Isaiah 43:10 confirms, "Before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me."
Isaiah 45:5 adds, "I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me."
2 Samuel 7:22 exclaims, "Wherefore thou art great, O Lord God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears."
Hosea 13:4 states, "Yet I am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me."

These scriptures affirm there is only one God—there is no God beside Him, no God with Him, no God like Him, and no other Savior but Him.

In the New Testament, 1 Timothy 3:16 reveals that "God was manifest in the flesh." How many Gods are there? Jesus Himself said in John 8:58, "Before Abraham was, I am, " proving that He is the one true God. Revelation 22:16 further confirms it: "I am the root and the offspring of David." Who is the root of David? God is. God created Adam, then Abraham, and eventually King David. Therefore, the root of David is God, demonstrating that Jesus is the only God.

This aligns perfectly with Isaiah 9:6, which calls Jesus "The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father."

The Trinity doctrine, however, divides God into three separate persons and contradicts these clear biblical truths. It is a false teaching that can lead many astray. The Word of God is clear: there is one God, and His name is Jesus. Keep studying, because the truth is found in His Word, not in man-made doctrines.

Thank you!!...Please let me add that Jesus exhibits a Father-like quality when He said in Matthew 23:37..."Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone God's messengers!...How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn't let me."

I thought that under the Trinity Doctrine, “The Father” is not the Son or the Son is not the Father

How does Jesus being called “Eternal Father” reconcile with your trinity rules?

Anyway, this explanation couldn’t be further from the truth.

Allow me to explain.

Isaiah 9:6, 7

For a child has been born to us, A son has been given to us; And the rulership will rest on his shoulder. His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. 7 To the increase of his rulership And to peace, there will be no end, On the throne of David and on his kingdom In order to establish it firmly and to sustain it Through justice and righteousness, From now on and forever. The zeal of Jehovah of armies will do this.

You see where it says “and the rulership will rest on his shoulder”?

in verse 7 it says “ To the increase of his rulership And to peace, there will be no end, On the throne of David and on his kingdom”

This is a reference to Jesus’ coronation and the coming of the Kingdom.

Consider Matthew 22:41-45

Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them: 42 “What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him: “David’s.” 43 He asked them: “How is it, then, that David under inspiration calls him Lord, saying, 44 ‘Jehovah said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies beneath your feet”’? 45 If, then, David calls him Lord, how is he his son?” 46 And nobody was able to say a word in reply to him, and from that day on, no one dared to question him any further

Do you know why David calls Jesus my Lord if Jesus is a descendant or (son) of David’s lineage?

The context is about the

Consider Psalm 45: 16
Your sons will take the place of your forefathers. You will appoint them as princes in all the earth

This is referring to the coming of the Kingdom, just as Isaiah 9:6 says “and the rulership will rest on his shoulder”, on the throne of

The Messiah is the son of David, Jesus’ forefathers call him my Lord via the resurrection.

Jesus becomes Lord by Jehovah’s appointment, he is given authority in heaven and on earth and will resurrect the dead.

All those who exercise faith in the Messiah will receive everlasting life.

This is the appropriate context in which Jesus is aptly described as “Eternal Father”.

Also, you should know that in the Septuagint, Isaiah 9:6 refers to Jesus as “angel of wonderful counsel”.

The Trinity doctrine is in complete contradiction to what the scriptures teach; one of the basic principles of the relationship between Jehovah and his Son Jesus

For all you people that don't know what you're talking about in these comments you forget that Jesus was from everlasting into everlasting he always has been and always will be he was just known as the word before he created himself in Mary by himself as the holy Spirit and he made himself into who we now call Jesus but he always was and always will be and now he will always be in the form of a man in the Bible he promised that he will never go back to being a spirit so that we will always have him in a human body to interact with in eternity to come

Jesus is the father he's the son he's the holy Spirit he's the Prince of Peace he's El shaddai he's The Great I Am he's all the different names in the Bible that are credited to God because he is all in all the beginning and the end the alpha and the Omega Jesus is all of these things wrapped up in one

Think of it this way if you're a man and you're married and you have kids you are at least three different things to three different people

You are someone's father you are someone's son and you are someone's husband you are three different things to three different people but you're so much more than that you are not limited to that to those three things and that is what Jesus is he is not just the father son and the holy Spirit he is all the different names given to God in the Bible so the Trinity is not biblical because it is too limiting because Jesus is not just those three things Father son and holy Spirit

More importantly Jesus is God with a capital G. Only the Almighty is given a capital G in scripture.

English translations are often messy. This verse is used heavily by Jesus only groups. Most bibles translate it incorrectly.

You are just looking at mistranslations the correct translation of isaiah 9:6 is: For a child has been born to us, a son given to us, and the authority is upon his shoulder, and the wondrous adviser, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, called his name, "the prince of peace." The correct translation of isaiah 9:6 is in past tense not future tense. Isaiah 9:6 is not about jesus isaiah 9:6 is about hezekiah.

Technically looking at the Hebrew it doesn't say Everlasting father it says Everlasting I don't know where the word father came into play but that was added because in the Hebrew there is no word for father in that phrase?
Jesus always existed with the father in the beginning however when you look into the context and the Greek and Hebrew and you really look at it without taking what other people say as truth about the Trinity you realize that Jesus is the literal son of the father who's always existed with him and the word Elohim is plural and the word god has many different definitions depending on the context

There is only one Father. Ephesians 4:6
King James Version

Jesus is both a Father and a Son. The Son of God has the power to make you a son of God. John 1:12.

The sons of God are joint heirs with Christ. Roman 8:17

As Joint heirs with Christ, the sons of God that overcome will inherit all things, and Jesus will be their Father, and they will be his sons. Revelation 21:7
