don't kill me but I have an M1 Mac that I use daily (generally for low-intensity projects). I live in an area where we get huge thunderstorms, so my husband and I both power off our Macs and unplug them when a storm hits. I don't care what else in the house gets fried -- I need my computer! Sometimes I have just enough time to do "shut down" and then unplug it super quickly before the house is shaking from the storm.

Love that there are ports on the front. Power button is a nonissue, I never turn mine off. I don’t think I’ll pick one up for a few more years though because my M1 is still going strong!

You said it’s 1/2 inch shorter. It’s actually a 1/2 inch taller than the M2 and previous generations.

I need the power button every 4-6 weeks. I don't really care where it is. though I have accidentally powered it off in the past. haven't powered off my 2011 Mac Mini in 2 years. And yes, its still running just fine.

No need to lift the Mac mini to access the power button... it's accessible with your finger without moving it.

I just bought an M2 Pro Mini this year *and* uprgraded the RAM *and* the storage *and* bought the NvME-updated Satechi dock for even more staorage and the sweet front ports so I think I'm set. I might be interested in the new M4 but wanted to see what Satechi comes up with first but the bottom power button might cause a hitch in that giddy up.

The M2 Mac Mini with only 256 Gb of flash memory has the slowest SSD in any of the Apple Silicon Macs because it is implemented using a single 256 Gb flash module. This means that we are now in the interesting situation where the 256 Gb 8 Gb M2 Mac Minis are being sold off very cheaply. They are being sold for only £400 by several outlets including Apple refurbished. If it fell to £250 on this Black Friday then I might be interested in buying one. This is the price that I normally buy my as new iPhones for.

I turn off my gaming PC. I definitely do not turn off my Mac mini M2.

I have a wall mounted mac mini. All electronics turns off at 11 automatically at home, even Wi-Fi routers. It's going to be interesting what wall-mounts will there be for this Mac mini.

I love that Intel canceled the NUC line because there is no market for that.

It’s a feature. The Mac is meant to be picked up and cuddled. It used to come with a handle and even told you to not trust a computer which you can’t lift.

I think it’s pretty shady for Apple to say 20 times faster and then in small print faster than the fastest Intel Mac, which came out over six years ago
