yeah waking up at an ungodly hour of the night to choose whether my friend lives or dies is a very normal part of my routine

My first instinct was to run all the way home and I got the neutral ending as a result.

I felt like I deserved it

I woke up and realized that I could still access the menu, so before I saved I ate a doughnut. Hearing this disturbing music in the background as Sunny describes its sweet taste was one of the most emotional parts of the game for me

"You will really miss him/her"

Depending on the path you take here, this has more than one meaning. That was bone chilling once I realized it.

"Basil?"
"Wake up, dummy.."
There's no response..
You really didn't wanna have to enter his room like this.
You think it's a breach of privacy.
But he really leaves you no choice.
*You gently open the door.*

Fun fact: if you go to Basil's bathroom before doing anything and interact with the toilet you will throw up once.

Regarless of wether you threw up before, if you interact with that same toliet after witnessing Basil's corpse, you will throw up again.

Seems like your stomach really, *really* didn't agree with that.

Fun(?) fact: the sequence of events that happens if you don't go to Basil's room and go back to sleep is internally referred to as "Not your problem".

Basil still hasn't come out of his room. Oh well, guess I'll just sleep in the living room. Surely Basil will at least try to reach out to me and my friends before doing any potentially harmful acts :)

This really captures that feeling where you just... know something is wrong. You haven't seen or heard anything, but you know something terrible has happened or is happening. I'm sure most of you have felt it at least once in your life.

This sounds so cool with headphones on. It's like the sound bounces around from left to right.

'Normal.'

I've suffered grief before, and one of the most powerful feelings it brings is the feeling that nothing can, will or should be normal ever again.

And Sunny's just remembered a truth he's been repressing for years, and is now staring not just his grief in the face, but the guilt of ending his sister's life and the trauma of all he and Basil did to cover it up.

Imagine waking up and having all that on your conscience at once.
And then, right next to him, his best friends are all having a sleepover with him, hanging out like normal.

The sentence "There is nothing here." Has never been so chilling.

Something I didn't realize on my first playthrough is that you can interact with your sleeping friends, and it'll give a little bit of text saying how "you'll really miss them".

It's so much more haunting when you realize that two of the endings end with Sunny killing himself.

This reminds me of when I was first on meds I was on a couch I had become so emotionally dulled that I was convinced that me better wasn't normal "This isn't right"
I had genuinely forgot what a good neutral felt like because of telling everyone arround me that I was fine.
I wish that I would of told everyone how badly I was doing but I let the fear and doubt control my mind
I am grateful that people are opening up and are willing to share their experiences because I truly believe it helps letting people know they are not alone.

I actually left Basil's house thinking I might have to meet him at that one specific tree but realized "oh he's most likely in his bedroom"

This song PERFECTLY encapsulates the feeling of waking up in the middle of the night and seeing the familiar shapes of a house barely peeking out of the darkness around you. Walking slowly, silently through a dark home, because if you walk too fast, you might wake something up. You're sure there's something behind you, but you don't want to turn around to look, because you're sure there's something in front of you, too. Something you can't see in the dark.

Somehow the idea of there being other people still sleeping in the same house makes it WORSE, and I can't explain why. Possibly the juxtaposition-- the pure ignorance and innocence of someone sleeping, blissfully unaware that there's something in the house with them. All around them. It makes it even more real for you, the one who woke up.
