The pre collision system in your new Toyota includes a pedestrian detection feature. Do you know how to turn it off in an emergency?

I have a 2022 Toyota Tacoma off-road. And you can change this setting while you're driving. It does not matter what speed you're driving at you can disable the pre-collision system or turn it back on or change the sensitivity all while you're driving. And you can also do the same with the lane departure alert.

Thanks Steve!
Can you tell me if there is a fuse that works with the PCS? We left our sunroof open and it rained. Now says "PCS malfunction", "Radar not avaliable", and our cruis control won't work. Is there a fuse that I can check before taking to the dealer?? Any advice/help appreciated!!!!

I wish it would stay off when you turn it off. Mine always goes off when I'm on a winding road and there are cars parked on the right side of the road. The car doesn't seem to realize that the cars aren't in my lane because they're in front of me due to the winding road. It can be kind of dangerous if a person is behind me and this feature causes my car to stop.

I've got a 2018 the Collision works, but it doesn't act like it's activating. Anything doesn't detect. Should I say any car or anything? So what's going on

It’s works like you saying you should be in parking

Oh I see I got scared when that red brake light started flashing and making sounds on my dashboard. So this brake warning does not mean my break fluid needs maitnence right?

Just had the emergency braking function activate for no reason. 45mph to stop with screeching tires.

Just bought my first Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. I turn these "safety" features off and they come back on the next time the car turns on. What a hassle. Not sure that these things add any value to me. It seems to me that over time, drivers will become even more complacent. In any case, I prefer to have full control over the car. If driving, you should be looking at the road and not be distracted. Besides, what do I care about speeding signs on my dashboard (that's already cluttered), I can see them just fine on my own. I'm a bit concerned about exposure to these radar systems not just to me but the pedestrians. I'm also concerned about data privacy: Why am I responsible for any privacy violations of my passengers, especially since I have no obvious (or perhaps any) means to turn these things off permanently? So I paid for these systems I don't want. Much of these are standard and not really an option. How do I permanently disable them? Can a Toyota Service Center remove these systems or at least disconnect them? Currently, I have duct tap on my windshield to block the camera at the top. I have to figure something out about that logo.

Hello Steve! Question. Is this the system that needs to be turned off at the automatic car wash?

Only down side to this I can think of is flying up behind someone to overtake and the car smashes my brakes an traps me in oncoming traffic

This explains the inflated prices on used cars, say 2016 or older.

Hi, I have a 2018 Toyota Corolla, and I tried this but it still says “pre-collision system malfunction, visit your dealer”. Is there something else I can do?

Like what i always said since years ago: wait until criminals understand this system and start stoping their victims at night with plastic manequins. 😂😂😂

That is SO annoying. That's what prevented me from buying a Toyota. I should be able to turn it on or off like you can with every other car manufacturer. Same thing with the lane assist.

My 1990 Corolla doesn't have that problem. Why don't they just go back to analog odometer where they can mass produce and sell them cheap. Those sensors and back up cameras are for idiots.

How normal is it for false positives to happen?
