Thanks this worked for me. I even changed the oil and blade while I was at it. If anyone is having trouble with disconnecting the fuel line, just take the plastic top off of the mower, slide off the fuel tank, and rotate the whole carb and fuel tank assembly to disconnect the throttle linkage. Be sure to empty your fuel tank before you start working on the carb itself. Thanks for video.

After spending years around engines, I've realized one thing for sure: you can always tell the difference between people who talk about their projects and those who actually know what they're talking about. It's clear who's just all talk and who really knows their stuff. And this ol boy knows his stuff. gotta love it Thanks Mowermedic

I have the same lawnmower, it's a MTD 300 E series. I bought it 6 yrs ago. It runs great, start up on the first pull. I just installed a fuel shut off on it. It was a pain cause the fuel line is so short. I do maintain it. Change the spark plug, air filter, sharpen the blade and use ethanol fuel only. I am not a small engine mechanic just a DIYer.

Great tips. These seem to clog up easy but I have never had one not run good after cleaning it out.

The main jet insert for the bs plastic carb is cheap and essentially plug-in a full rebuild of the carb. It's got better chance of running right the first time than a replacement carb for a Honda😂. Full carb service in 5min or less - I was a sceptic until I discovered the cheap inserts, now I appreciate the design

This video left out the importance of the white plastic spacer and O ring between the carburetor and motor. That O ring can cause the mower to suck in much air if it is old or damaged. On an older mower, if the mower starts and stalls after priming you need to check that the 2 inch fuel line is not clogged going from the gas tank to the carb.

Thank you for posting, first time I am working on a non-starting with these plastic carbs, not sure I like it - no throttle control no choke - man I miss the older style engines!

I have two Murray mowers & one Yard Machine with the same B & S engine & carbs. Had to do what you did to mine. I also a Toro push mower with a Kohler e z start engine, the carb needs cleaning. Three of these were freebies

You can clean the gunk in the main jet as many times as you want, however, it will stop up again and again because the federal government wanted fuel efficiency and as a result the opening in that main jet is 0.12-0.13" in diameter (this where all the gas to the engine must pass through). You need to drill out the main jet to .021" to make sure it does not clog up. This is the diameter of most small engines without the plastic carb and it works just fine and even better at .021".

thank you. first time working on a plastic carb. didn't know what to make of it. it isn't like the old school ones. in a way plastic is a bit easier to work on. it cleans quickly and the mower started on the first pull. thanks again. jw
