Strong wind and rolling huge GENERAL CARGO SHIP. Block down engine and and flooded the machine

NEW VIDEO: According to the Dutch Coast Guard, the situation is stable surrounding the drifting freighter Julietta D, which collided with an oil tanker on the 31st of January. The ship will be towed to the port of Rotterdam in daylight tomorrow. The Coast Guard wants to wait for calmer weather. The ship is currently about 12 kilometres from the coast.
Salvors of Smit Salvage managed to board the casualty and establish a tow connection with tugboat SOVEREIGN. A second tow connection with MULTRATUG 18 broke.

A person on board the tug SOVEREIGN was injured, as was one on board of the lifeboats. It is unknown how bad those injuries were.

The incident comes as “Storm Corrie” has produced winds up to 120km/hr in the North Sea. As a result, the anchor of the unladen bulk carrier, JULIETTA D started dragging, and she collided with the chemical tanker PECHORA STAR at the IJmuiden anchorage. She drifted rudderless in the vicinity of the Hollandse Kust Zuid offshore wind farm, and during her drift, JULIETTA D also allided with a foundation of a platform that has yet to be installed. The coastguard said the extent of the damage to the foundation is still unknown. As a result of the first collision, the ship was making water via a large hole at the vessel's port side. All 18 crew members have been evacuated.

Het schip wordt morgen bij daglicht naar de haven van Rotterdam gesleept. De Kustwacht wil rustiger weer afwachten. Het schip ligt momenteel zo'n 12 kilometer uit de kust.
Bergers van Smit Salvage wisten het slachtoffer aan boord te krijgen en een sleepverbinding tot stand te brengen met sleepboot SOVEREIGN. Een tweede sleepverbinding met de MULTRATUG 18 is verbroken.

Een persoon aan boord van de sleepboot SOVEREIGN raakte gewond, evenals een opvarende van de reddingsboten. Het is niet bekend hoe erg die verwondingen waren.

Het incident komt omdat "Storm Corrie" windsnelheden tot 120 km/u heeft veroorzaakt in de Noordzee. Hierdoor begon het anker van de onbeladen bulkcarrier JULIETTA D te slepen en kwam ze bij de ankerplaats IJmuiden in aanvaring met de chemicaliëntanker PECHORA STAR. Ze dreef stuurloos in de buurt van het offshore windpark Hollandse Kust Zuid en tijdens haar drift kwam JULIETTA D ook in aanraking met een fundering van een nog te plaatsen platform. De kustwacht zei dat de omvang van de schade aan de fundering nog onbekend is. Door de eerste aanvaring maakte het schip water via een groot gat aan bakboordzijde. Alle 18 bemanningsleden zijn geëvacueerd.

Verschillende reddingsboten en helikopters van de kustwacht hebben deelgenomen aan de reactie. Ook de Belgische Kustwacht assisteerde.
