Cheap doesn’t mean bad, and it’s hard to go wrong with the cars we’ve listed here. Let us know which one you’d take and why in the comments!

I still cant believe the kia soul gets classified as a suv.

I recommend not getting Hyundai or kia in the US because a lot of insurance will no longer cover it due to too many thefts.

I love my '23 Forte GT. Lots of bang for my buck for the price! And it much, much quicker than a Civic si!

I have 2 hybrid Mavericks. 2022 First edition with all bells and whistles and a 2023 Xl! Don’t need a truck but this thing is the most practical vehicle ever, and MPG champion for its size.

Edmunds videos are always nice to see, I love this segment and they're always so informative.

For reliability purposes, I rather take a reputable brand with 5yr/60k warranty that actually honors it rather than the 10yr/100k miles. I buy a car to drive it not to drive a rental every time it needs to go in for warranty work.

That 10yr/100k miles isn't something to brag about. Getting a Kia/Hyundai dealer to honor any major work or parts that are scarce is like pulling teeth. A simple search online shows lots of people have issues getting warranty honored once its past like 5 years, including myself.

I love my 2024 Kia Forte GT. If you want a compact and 200 horsepower for $25, 000 - The GT is the way to go. The Civic SI, the GTI, or GLI are $5, 000 more. Even the Elantra N-Line is $2000 more.

Do these reviews take into account reliability? Fords, Kias, and Hyundai's have a lot of issues. Just wondering if that was a consideration at al!?

At first I never thought I would get a Kia. But I’ve been happy with my 2021 Kia soul gt line. It’s a pretty zippy car. I’ve looked back since.

I used to love Mitsubishi, I had a full size Montero that was excellent! Sadly, they have now specialized in cars for midgets.

1:07 and I think a NISMO version could make an excellent hot hatch. a bolt on supercharger, brakes and suspension upgrades on the manual car, could make a pretty compelling option if they can keep the "all in" cost under $25k

The Hyundai Venue is a nice car, but I’d avoid buying it! A lot of insurance companies AREN’T insuring them. Especially if they’re key start. They’re high risk due to being easy to steal, and I learned the hard way. Geico charges a minimum of like $250/mo.

Only wish 10 yrs and 100, 000 miles warranty would come to Canada as well.
