8:12 WING AREA-
I think you could get the effective wing area based on circle equation r^2 = x^2 + y^2 where the area would be linked to the x component only. Sort of projecting the shadow onto the x axis.
(It would have been easy for me when I finished engineering school 30 years ago.)
My intuition tells me it boils down to biplane wings with any one wing length equal to the diameter of the circle.
But what I think we have over just a biplane are wings without wingtip losses.

When i was younger, i used to make a flying toy that had a drinking straw as the body & paper circles at each end of the straw. A larger rc version would be interesting to see.
