Found this video after I went to a certified shop with certified mechanics for an oil change that cost me $95. 2 weeks later I notice oil spots in the driveway, crawl under the truck and the pan is covered in oil. Leaking straight from the filter, so I went back up there. They tried to tell me they were booked for the week, and if I leave it with them, maybe they can get to it in a day or so, yeah, that’s a hard no.

certified tech in a certified shop screwing my vehicle up about 25 years ago is why I learn to do it myself.

If mechanics used torque wrenches on oil filters and oil pan drain plugs used new drain plug washers and made sure old filter gasket came out with the old oil filter most of these issues would be eliminated.

Go tO a CeRtIfiEd sHoP wItH cErTiFiEd tEcHs… just tell people to double check their work. And they should double check the certified techs work too. Because most of those guys don’t care about their customers car anyway

Just do it yourself and do it right. Every time ive had my oil changed at "certified " shops it was either leaking. Not filled all the way with oil or not changed at all. I learned a long time ago to do things yourself if you want it done right. Only thing i cant do myself is internals of transmission or internals in the engine. Everything thing else I've been able to fix myself witj basic air tools and hand tools. Nothing feels better then doing your own work and having it done correct .

You don't need to be certified to have common sense that the oil filter needs to be tight😂

You only need to hand tighten a filter

Mine is leaking from the filter I hate to have to drain the oil again but don’t want it to cause any other problems it’s kinda awkward getting it on might have cross threaded it

First of all most filters that spin on supposed to hand tight turn a little bit like another quarter turn second those chevy gmc or general motors with motors where oil filter in the back by transmission those like vibrate loose my solution to that get oil band wrench tighten more tight it by hand until can't use the wrench do another turn I am lube technician from Walmart and Valvoline and seem these happen

Lmao I was leaking oil from my filter and checked and it was so loose it was probably about to fall off I'm guessing that jiffy lube messed up or all the vibrations from my subwoofer might of loosen it thanks for the video

How do you clean up the leaked oil? Just with a cloth?

It’s not supposed to be really tight! Your supposed to be hand tight!!! Your one of them dudes that uses a strap wrench when you put the filter
