The land and sea of Ireland make us who we are. Irish farmers and fishers produce safe nutritious and tasty food. They follow in the footsteps of their ancestors and strive to ensure that their life's work and traditions can be passed down sustainably to future generations

We want to ensure that this continues and having a vision and strategy for our agri-food sector for the coming decade is critical to this. Sustainability in its three dimensions - economic, environmental and social - is at the heart of our #FoodVision2030. We used a food systems approach to develop our strategy. This links policies for food, agriculture, health and the environment. It means that all parts of the food chain - farmers, fishers, suppliers, processors, retailers and consumers - each have an important role in delivering a sustainable food system. Our vision is that Ireland should become a world leader in sustainable food systems over the coming decade and we have identified four missions to deliver this.

One: A climate smart, environmentally sustainable agri-food sector.
Two: Viable and resilient primary producers with enhanced wellbeing.
Three: Food which is safe, nutritious and appealing; trusted and valued at home and abroad.
Four: An innovative, competitive and resilient agri-food sector that is driven by technology and talent.

We must find new ways to live on and with the land and to respect and care for the sea. Together, we can achieve this with the #FoodVision2030 and become a world leader in Sustainable Food Systems.
