No matter what I do, no matter what food options I try, I still get nauseous around the 40km mark in 100 milers and start puking and by 60km I'm done.

Gels put your stomach under stress!! Do take water/salt und fluid carbohyd., not too many gels!

You dont need that much gels.. 9 in a marathon? You will go directly to the bathroom. 1 gel every 45 minutes is enough, but a good quality gel like GU.
