Loved your review. Was very nice to hear someone also mechanically minded to not just read off a sell sheet, but give 100% real world experiences in a clean concise manner. Great vid!👍🏼

Nice candid review, I appreciate the insight as I've been looking at the XC60 hybrid. One thought... you mentioned the seat belt light when hard driving. My guess is that the g forces of acceleration may be tripping the passenger sensor making it think someone is in the seat but doesn't have the seat belt on.

I'm puzzled why you say you like this T8 so much, and say it's the one of all the XC60s that you'd take, but then you say that PHEVs are the worst of all vehicles (ICEV, PHEV, BEV) ... You're not very consistent there... One reason why people (like me) buy PHEVs is because we do lots of long road trips and don't want to deal with the crappy public-charging infrastructure as of March 2022 (still) but yet want to do all or most of our local driving (which is 95% of all our driving) in all-electric mode. Yeah, you could have a BEV for local driving and an ICEV for long-distance driving, but that's not practical for a great many people; one vehicle works best for many of us.

Been driving a 2012 Prius plug in for about 10 years and really wanting to get one of Volvos plug ins. My biggest concern is how well it ages. The Toyota hybrid synergy drive is so battle tested that it doesn’t worry me. This power train feels like it’ll be very expensive out of warranty so I’d have to go against every other car I’ve owned and lease one.

How does the Volvo system compare to a Toyota hybrid system?

How many miles can it run before it actually stops if you have it fully charged and fueled.

Does it remember what mode you were in when you shut down or do you have to select the mode every time?

PHEV VERSION. The singular most disappointing aspect of the charge system is it inability to set a charge timer either through the car or app. So unless you have a smart home charger people like me on an economy 7 tariff need to be nocturnal to benefit from off peak charging. Volvo UK offer no solution. A retrograde step from earlier models and spoiling my enjoyment of a brand new car!
