You showed us two ways of generating a security certificate for IIS: Generate a domain certificate and create a CSR. Is one way generally more preferred or better than the other? Obviously, there are a lot more steps involved in creating a CSR....is there an advantage to doing it this way over just generating a domain cert?

what for you create request and create cert in web, if you didn't use this one cert file?! You only use cert requested like from domain.
