It's tough but remember love is blind. You are loved and love yourself. Haters are going to hate because you are doing something that they could never do, and they have no compassion or empathy. You my friend have those in abundance!

My daughter is deaf/blind and runs into the same ignorance. Just because she can hear you in a quiet place if you are loud, or she can make out color blobs at arm's length. She has 20/100 and is uncorrectable, so far. She has a sensory disorder affecting her in many ways.

I'm so sorry that you even have to face comments like that. My therapist has RP and we had a long chat about it last week after seeing your channel. He said the straw description was a good way of explaining it. He often says it's like tunnel vision. I have introduced him to your channel although he is worried it will give his kids even more ideas for pranking him 😂 Your videos are helping me understand what he goes through better. He also made his kids the goggles like you made Matthew wear. You are very inspiring. I have been housebound for 7 years now with my own chronic illness after previously being very active and you have motivated me to start my own channel to help raise awareness of my illness. I wonder what life is like for someone who is so distrustful, they see a stranger with an impairment and automatically assume they're lying. It must be a truly awful & empty existence.

Watching your videos brings me such joy, even the sad ones when you're struggling, but Matthew & Maple are there to love & support you, really warm my heart. I can only imagine the grief & heartache that comes with losing your sight, but you take each challenge in your stride with such grace & positivity, I can't help but cheer you on. ❤

As someone who was born with cataracts, it really bothers me when people think that “[legally] blind” means having zero vision at all. There are surgeries available for people who are blind, and that’s how I can see now. I was lucky to have such observant parents when I was younger, because I could’ve been blind forever if I hadn’t gotten that surgery within two weeks.
I really wish everyone else out there who suffers from blindness a good life, as I understand how you feel.

People are so ignorant about disability and so quick to accuse without thinking about what that does to the disabled person and the trauma that can form over a lifetime of these interactions. I wasted a lot of my last year's of being able to walk not doing so because people's reactions when they saw me walk and play as a kid then frequently go back and sit in my wheelchair for breaks were so horrible and traumatic for me that I just didn't want to risk the accusations and I couldn't go without my chair most of the time so I just stayed in it unless I was somewhere safe. I'm currently classed as wheelchair bound, I can stand and take a step or two but I am very wobbly and doing so causes extreme pain. Sometimes I feel really angry at the people who accused 8 year old me of faking and wish I could tell them that what they did caused teenage me to miss out on getting to use that mobility while I had it. I'm still doing it too, I won't risk a dirty look in a shop or god forbid a confrontation so even on good days I won't stand up to reach something I need because of what has happened when I have. If you don't make that accusation worst case scenario they are faking and they got away with it, best case you let someone like me love their life without fear. When you make that accusation worst case scenario is you cause a lot of pain to another human being. Unless the potentially disabled person is making harmful claims or misleading people on disability you don't need to say anything, just swipe away.
