Synthetic Division of Polynomials [Part 2] - Divide Quickly Using This Method

This video will show you how to do synthetic division ➗ with 2 polynomials. Dividing two polynomials using synthetic division can be easier than algebraic long division 🌟 because it involves fewer steps with a simpler algorithm 🎰. This particular video looks at questions involving the synthetic division of a polynomial by a divisor of the form x ± b, but where there appear to be missing numbers or missing terms in the dividend ☹️ of a quartic polynomial. This may not sound too complex 💣, but if we do not take this into account when setting up 🏗️ our synthetic division, it will not work 😲. If our long term goal 🥅 is to use synthetic division and the remainder theorem side by side, thereby factoring polynomials to find their zeros 0️⃣, then we must be comfortable working with dividends with missing powers of x 🤺, no matter whether you are in class 9, class 10, or preparing for the sat.

Thank you for the reminder (and rationale) for putting in place holders for the missing powers of 'x'. Super helpful! :)
