Does James 2:24 Contradict Faith Alone?

James 2:24 is often used in discussions and debates to argue against the Protestant teaching of salvation by faith alone. James 2:24 says a man is justified by works and not by faith alone. How do protestants harmonize this with sola fide? How can Christians harmonize this with the writings of Paul when he says we are saved by faith apart from works? Well, in context James is talking about a different kind of faith to the faith Paul is speaking about and James is using the word "justified" in a different sense to the way that Paul uses it. James is talking about people claiming to have faith but they are living in sin being hearers of the word and not doers of the word. Paul is talking about people who do live righteous lives but they are being told they have to keep the law perfectly to be saved. So James and Paul come at this subject from different angles.

For all who have been reborn: there is no need whatsoever to 'prove' your faith to any other man, church, pastor, teacher, scholar, rabbi etc. Your telephone line is directly with the Lord Christ Jesus. Get any and all 'intermediaries' out of the way. Do not follow any other man. Follow Jesus' words alone. God bless you.

JUSTIFIED and then about 30 years later Abraham was willing to sacrifice Isaac. Grace alone. Faith alone. Christ alone. ❤❤❤

iThinkBiblically, me and you have butted heads a few times. But this is probably one of the best videos you have ever done. You really explained this well and even added some details that I did not know. So not only was I in complete agreement, but I actually learned a few things. Kudos.

Wow me as a former Muslim I have always wondered about this! I read the Bible but really I’ve never met someone who explains things so perfectly! Thank you

Excellent exegesis and explanation of the passage. You’re spot on and may the Lord use this to open those who are deceived by Rome and any other false works-righteousness religion.

The faith that God gives will always produce works!

Neither. James is talking about the fruits of salvation (doing good deeds as a believer) while Paul is talking about works as a means of getting saved. Two different topics!

Romans 1:17 The just shall live by FAITH! Romans 10:17 Faith comes by Hearing and Hearing the Word of God. Hebrews 11:1 Faith is substance of things hoped for and evidence of things not yet seen.

We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone. When a person exercises true saving faith, they are born again. When a person is born again, this produces a transformation. The works that come from this transformation are NOT meritorious of salvation in ANY way, but rather are the evidence of the born-again experience.
This is the gospel of grace alone.

To put it another way. We don't do works to get saved. We do works because we are saved.

I believe that it is pure and simple that everyone is saved by grace alone through faith alone and that a person's good works is evidence of their salvation through having believed and accepted Him.

The simple thing how we are saved .
God stretches the Hand of Grace ( Love stooping so low to reach the Sinful man ) and man in simple Faith of man stretches up to Receive the Forgiveness and Salvation . ( Ephesians 2: 8, 9)
Works only follow after he or she is Saved ! ( Ephesians 2 :10).
