The twist with Top Gun/RRR is one of the best moments in the history of these videos.

I loved your intros to Everything Everywhere and RRR. Here are my expectations, people. Please continue to confound them.

CineFix continuing the tradition of discussing films that exist outside of US and UK, especially in their honorable mentions. Something all too many of their contemporaries refuse to acknowledge.

Your recommendation of Aftersun intrigued me and I just watched it. Holy crap. I haven’t cried that hard in a long time. I cannot believe that was the film debut for this director. An absolute masterpiece.

Who's gonna tell them that Free Guy was a 2021 movie, released widely in August of 2021

Aftersun is SO good, and sadly isn't getting nearly as much attention as a lot of other films of this year. I hope it'll get an Oscar nom, if only to get more eyes on it. It's just one of those films I can't stop thinking about, for the best reasons.

The most surprising thing for me is that I watched The Northman and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent in a theater on the same day, back to back.

This for me was the Oscars this year. And I should stop being amazed by you guys but here I am still amazed that you mentioned Joyland and RRR.

I just gotta say that the moment yah did the Top Gun to RRR swap had me in tears. As a long time Cinefix fan, it was a perfect Cinefix swap and it will live on in my as one of my favorite moments of the Movielist series.

If you haven’t watched it yet, Puss in Boots the last wish is unbelievably good and feels like a Kung Fu Panda movie more than a shrek spin off. It’s gorgeous and has one of the best villains ever put in an animated film. It uses Spiderverse style animation to the best effect, and is an absolute blast once the story gets going.

Really proud of myself for actually seeing the movies on this list. Most years I be slacking

The final 20 minutes of Aftersun shattered me. You had this quiet subconscious sense of what was building but it kicks you in the teeth in the most beautiful way regardless. Also, ‘Knowing the exact perfect instance to make it’s heartbreaking Irish goodbye’, the characters in the film are Scottish, but the lead Paul is Irish, easy mistake! Fantastic film.

Love Aftersun so much. It captures nostalgia and memory so perfectly.

Just saw RRR and it was everything you say it is. Perfect. Spectacle, funny, songs, dances, volcanic action, tragedy, mini-films unto themselves (check that opening scene!) and filmed with such a ridiculous level of intensity it threatens to spin out of control. It blew me away. More than once I hollered out “What the hell?” And was thrilled by it.
