Hello everyone, MT here with the usual trainspotting action. It had been a beautiful sunny day within several places in the UK, so I thought of using this chance to capture some railway traffic with the low colourful sun light shining off the units that come & go and where to do any better than York railway station on the East Coast Mainline. The sun light really did gave an outstanding look to some of the units that came through within an hour’s time in the late afternoon. To top the trip off, four freight services passed, that’s way more than I would thought of getting in just an hour. Overall, a very satisfying trip indeed!

Trains include: LNER HST’s & 225 sets, CrossCountry Voyagers, Transpennine Express 185’s & 68’s on test, Northern 150’s & 158’s, GBRF 66’s & 60085 and EWS 66063

What I love most about YouTube is stumbling upon gems like this. What a gorgeous station and an awesome view of your world. Viewed with great pleasure from Sydney Australia. Time for a binge on your channel and thanks for sharing.

Strange how in the middle of the video it shows two foreign locos in some country somewhere. No idea why that's there.

In my trainspotting days in the 50s York station had a freight avoiding line, does that not exist now? Nice video, thanks.

I was there on that exact same day! Shame I didn't see you and that you weren't there earlier, as you would've seen 60087 and 67027, and later I saw D1924

Why are the platforms in British stations ALWAYS so ridiculously curved? Can’t you make them straight for a change?

Great video. Smooth and steady. Do you use a tripod?

Seems to me that you have a lot of diesel locos compared to electric. What are the percentages.

Thanks for making the video! I was wondering why the passenger trains (not large locos) have only one working large headlight in the front? (maybe a daytime setting?, two at night?)

Does anyone else have problems with comments disappearing from videos?

Nice poor is a shadow of its former self....

The main Northbound platform, (which I think was the former Number 9), now shortened to the end of the overall roof. A completely pointless piece of infrastructure change at one of the most important stations in the country. A space outside in the open where spotters could always gather on fine dreadful, ugly and unnecessary fences at the platform ends.

Our railway becomes more fortification than railway with each passing can only wonder what overseas visitors think.

Still no restoration of the centre roads through the main train which the freight traffic so desperately the most stupid piece of trackwork at the Scarborough end, where two track merge in to one and then immediately back again in to two.

The loss of the diamond junction across to the Scarborough lines years ago gives less flexibility for traffic to and from Scarborough, which has, of necessity to now be funnelled through the main train shed and cannot use the other platforms. If the diamonds were back in place the main train shed platforms could accommodate more trains.

Harrogate platforms approaches hacked about more than needed, with a slower junction layout. These platforms were once used for major trains north to Scotland.

At a time when traffic is increasing we are chopping and changing infrastructure and platforms, when anyone with any foresight and intelligence will recognise that the layout at York would benefit from returning to what it once was.

Yet still graffiti on freight vehicles goes witless rail companies run trains in liveries that are only one stage away from being graffiti themselves.

It's no wonder graffiti vandals get their clue from seeing trains running in such liveries and think it must be OK to spray paint on vehicles and infrastructure.

You truly couldn't make it up if you tried....!
