your not taking into account relocation expenses are not offered for many public jobs, these jobs might be appealing but someone in new york may not be able to relocate to texas and afford a apartment soon enough. Hiring is still slow, interview process in it self is usually 3 months or more after applying. offer comes towards end of the year or 3 year's after. Fed jobs is not some get rich scheme

Question regarding assessments - are there assessments for most of the jobs? Online it said assessments could take 2 or 3 hours and they have to be completed within 48 hours of receipt of email.... or does all that depend on the job opening and agency?

Applying in bulk would be difficult if that were the case, so maybe most jobs don't require assessments?

Another big overlooked benefit of federal work is continuing to have a portion of your healthcare paid for.

They pay about 75 percent. Having to pay your entire premium yourself can be about 500 dollars extra and can hurt if you're on social security or a limited income.

Or you can go with Medicaid but they only pay 80 percent of premiums. If you need a 100, 000 dollar surgery you could be in trouble.

And the older you get generally the more health care you need and the more expensive the services.

People don't think about getting older but it's a big deal.
