Passengers is a 2016 American science fiction romance film set in 2343 directed by Morten Tyldum and written by Jon Spaihts. The film stars Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt as Aurora Lane and Jim Preston, respectively, with Michael Sheen and Laurence Fishburne in supporting roles (plus Andy García in a cameo). The plot depicts two people who are awakened ninety years too early from an induced hibernation on a spaceship, transporting thousands of passengers, travelling to a colony on a planet in a star system 60 light years from Earth.

Technically Jim could have gotten the response message if he lived to be 70 or 80, if the response was actually useful, he could have gotten himself back to cryosleep, then wake up along with the other passengers as an old man, and live a few years on Homestead II

Imagine actually surviving that trip just to have a ship pop out of warp behind you right before you arrive because humanity has developed faster than light travel in the time you were gone.

Others doing the trip that cost you 70 years in 23 minutes. That would suck so much.

hibernation is pretty interesting. to sleep each time whole 99 year and 1 year alive and in fact you can see 1000 change in technology and history

Set in 2343? So where did you get that wisdom?

The movie clearly states that no hibernation pod has failed in 1000's of interstellar flights. Even when we calculate with 10 to 120 years of flight ( you wouldn't go in hibernation for short duration flights ), and we take in account that earlier space flights had less advanced propulsion, the year Passengers takes place in would be at least the year 4000.

Think about it he didn’t have to wake up Aurora because later they say that the medical pod thing could work as a hibernation system right or did I get this wrong i literally watched this movie from clips on YouTube
